The YZ250F gets all of the attention for 2021 when it comes to Yamaha’s motocrosser. The new YZ250F takes on many changes to its chassis, motor and brakes, while the YZ450F, which saw a major overhaul last year, returns as it did before. Both bikes, however, are now also available in optional special Monster Energy Yamaha race team graphics.
The new 2021 Yamaha YZ250F features an all-new cylinder head with a revised intake port shape and a new camshaft profile, as well a new airbox and intake tract, a new silencer and an updated ECU. These mods, along with other refinements like an updated transmission and shift cam, a revised clutch design and updated water pump impeller, are all said to help produce stronger mid- to top-end power and increased peak power, while retaining its already well-liked low-end torque.
An updated frame with new engine mounts results in new flex characteristics to improve bump absorption, traction, and cornering performance.
Other chassis components such as the top triple clamp, handlebar mounts, and front axle were also redesigned to complement the new frame. Brakes feature lighter weight front and rear calipers, larger surface area brake pads, and redesigned front (270mm) and rear (240mm) discs.
The 2021 YZ250F sells for $8299 and the YZ450F $9399. Add $200 for the Monster Energy Yamaha Racing Edition models.
Yamaha says the 2021 YZ450F will be available in August and the YZ250F in September. CN
