Yamaha Outdoor Initiative Is Funding Public Land Access Projects - Off Road Xtreme

pret.indah.link

Off Road Xtreme recently reported on several off-road industry associated trail conservation programs highlighting BFGoodrich’s Outstanding Trails Program, Score $250 For Your Off-Road Trails, and OLAF Desert Cleanup. We are always on the lookout for more opportunities to promote and facilitate good land stewardship. Here we are again  presenting Yamaha’s Outdoor Access Initiative and their effort to fund grant recipients that steward and conserve public land access.

For more than a decade, Yamaha Motor Corp., USA has supported nearly 400 projects across the nation with over $4.5 million in grant contributions. Recipients are typically non-profit organizations supporting the needs of riding groups, outdoor enthusiasts, land stewardship organizations, and land managers who are actively working to improve access to public land for outdoor recreation.

The Outdoor Access Initiative is open to all applicants who believe they have a worthy cause associated with the mission. Yamaha invites submissions at YamahaOAI.com where users may review guidelines and applications are available. They also invite you to connect with @YamahaOutdoors via their social media or search any of the following hashtags on all platforms:  #Yamaha #YamahaOAI #REALizeYourAdventure #ProvenOffRoad #AssembledInUSA

OAIA First Quarter Recipients

2021 first quarter Yamaha OAI grants total more than $225,000 and were awarded to the following organizations:

  • All Kids Bike / Strider Education Foundation
  • Central Mountain ATV Association, Pennsylvania
  • Darnell Hills – BLM Open OHV Area, Wyoming
  • Day Mountain Road Association, Maine
  • Interior Alaska Trails and Parks Foundation
  • Lakes Region ATV Club, Maine
  • Northwest Motorcycle Association, Washington
  • Osseo Area Dusty Riders, Wisconsin
  • Sault Ste. Marie Snowmobile Association, Michigan
  • Southwest Wildlife Foundation, Arizona
  • The Nature Conservancy, Tennessee Chapter

The first quarter applicant pool represented a wide-ranging selection of OHV enthusiasts with projects working to supply ATV, Side-by-Side (SxS), motorcycle, and snowmobile riders with safe and sustainable trails and riding areas for responsible recreation. Yamaha touts their OAIA as the powersports industry’s leading land access program, and remains an essential resource to grassroots efforts initiated by riding clubs, land stewardship organizations, and public land managers across the country.

“Happily, we are seeing an increase in grant applications for the Yamaha Outdoor Access Initiative as the public strengthens its interest in outdoor and motorized recreation,” said Steve Nessl, Yamaha’s Motorsports marketing manager. “With the growing amount of people visiting state and national parks and forests, the work needed to maintain these public spaces for everyone’s benefit and enjoyment is also rising, and Yamaha remains dedicated to supporting those who want to make a difference in protecting and creating access to these lands.”

Updated guidelines, application form, information and news about the Outdoor Access Initiative are available at YamahaOAI.com. For specific questions about the Yamaha Outdoor Access Initiative, call the dedicated hotline at 1-877-OHV-TRAIL (877-648-8724), email [email protected], or write to:

What could Yamaha moving into aero engines mean for bikes - Visordown

pret.indah.link

YAMAHA has today announced that it has signed a deal with ShinMaywa Industries, a Japanese conglomerate looking to develop the next generation of lightweight aircraft.

Through the agreement, Yamaha will work to adapt its range of small capacity engines, making them appropriate for the aviation industry, while ShinMaywa will adapt, test, and eventually build the machines.

‘And what does this have to do with bikes?’ I hear you cry. Well, aside from one of the planets biggest motorcycle manufacturers moving into a new sector, we are also more than a little bit excited about what this could mean for Yamaha’s motorcycle engines further down the line.

For starters, aero engines have to be lightweight. The same can be said for motorcycles but in aircraft, it can be the difference between flying and crashing. The heavier an engine, the more fuel it needs to fly a set distance. The more fuel it needs, the heavier the aircraft gets. While we aren’t suggesting Yamaha will begin bolting carbon copies of its aircraft engines into motorcycles, there is sure to be a trickle-down of technology crossing over from one side to the other.

New Yamaha MT-09 SP Review 2021

Another bonus of the endeavour could come from the way aero engines are used. For the most part, they run on a relatively stable throttle and to be able to accurately calculate the distance you can travel you need to know how much fuel you will use. This could help Yamaha’s motorcycle engines become more fuel-efficient, maybe not at the top or bottom rev range, but in the middle – motorway cruising for instance.

Maverick Vinales to Leave Yamaha at the end of 2021 - Cycle News

pret.indah.link
| June 28, 2021

Maverick Vinales will depart from the Monster Energy Yamaha team at the close of the 2021 MotoGP season after both parties reached a mutual agreement, it has been confirmed.

The Catalan’s contract with the Iwata factory ran up to the end of 2022, but rising tensions inside the box, as well as a belief from the rider’s end that the current malaise that has gripped him this year would not change unless a dramatic course of action was taken.

An official statement from Yamaha read, “Following Maverick Vinales‘ request, Yamaha have agreed to put an early end to their current two-year contract. Currently in their fifth season together, they mutually decided to go their separate ways after this year.
“Both parties are committed to putting in their maximum effort for the remainder of the 2021 MotoGP season and ending the relationship on a high note.”

Maverick Vinales, here seen in parc ferme after the Dutch TT in which he finished second, has decided to split from Yamaha at the end of the year.

It is believed the two parties came to this agreement on Friday evening at the Dutch TT, five days on from Vinales’ disastrous outing in Germany, where he started the race from 21st and finished 17th and at the back of the field.

On Thursday he was still deeply troubled by the ordeal and told journalists he had “never been so angry in my life” at how the weekend had gone. The fact his teammate Fabio Quartararo, new to the team for 2021, has won four races, leads the MotoGP championship by 34 points and has been the season’s standout rider to date has only exacerbated matters.

Not even a second place finish in Sunday’s Dutch TT could mend the fractious relationship. If anything, it confirmed the ill-feeling from the rider’s end. His words and body language on the podium and parc fermĂ© hinted at irreparable differences. Asked if it was possible to show his full potential in his current team, he said, “No, it’s not possible. We have many issues that will stay with me.”

Yamaha team boss Massimo Meregalli explained the frustration from Yamaha’s side. “To finish last for sure is not his position. Wednesday when we started preparing this GP we checked some data. We also saw that during the race he was the fastest Yamaha in terms of fastest lap. The bike wasn’t as bad as he pointed out. Here we said he would start leading FP1 and basically he did. It’s frustrating also for us to understand this kind of behavior. From the Sachsenring to here the bike was changed a bit but not enough for this.”

It’s believed Aprilia will be Vinales’ future destination. Pressed on this matter on Sunday, Aprilia Racing CEO Massimo Rivola said, “We need to know if the rider is on the market. If he is on the market, if he is available then we will try our best to convince him.”

Eight race wins to date with Yamaha were not enough to convince Vinales to stay.

This season Vinales has hired a new personal manager, Giovanni Balestra, while his father Angel, who was not part of his inner circle in recent times, was present in his garage over the weekend at Assen.

Of the split, Yamaha’s Managing Director Lin Jarvis said, “It is with sadness that we will say farewell to Maverick at the end of the year. We are in the middle of our fifth season together and over the years we have achieved many highs but also had to manage many lows.

“After the German GP, which was the most difficult weekend of our partnership, we had important discussions in Assen and came to the conclusion that it would be in the interest of both parties to go our separate ways in the future. Yamaha will put in their maximum effort – as we always have done – to give full support to Maverick and finish this season in the very best way possible.”

In his time at Yamaha, Vinales has won eight times and claimed 16 further podium finishes. But across those four and a half seasons, he has worked with three different crew chiefs as he searched for the magic formula to help him rediscover the form that saw him win three of his first five races for the factory. Not once has he sustained a championship challenge. Neil Morrison

Vinales ends Yamaha MotoGP contract early, to leave at end of season - Reuters

pret.indah.link

MotoGP - TT Assen - TT Circuit Assen, Assen, Netherlands - June 26, 2021 Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP's Maverick Vinales during qualifying REUTERS/Yves Herman

June 28 (Reuters) - Nine-time MotoGP race winner Maverick Vinales will leave Yamaha at the end of the 2021-22 season after terminating his contract one year early, the team announced on Monday.

Vinales was signed by Yamaha in 2017 as a replacement for Jorge Lorenzo and won three of his first five races.

But the 26-year-old, who had a contract until 2022, was linked with a move to Aprilia after his relationship with Yamaha soured this season.

"Yamaha and Maverick Vinales have mutually decided to terminate their current 2021-2022 agreement at the close of this season," Yamaha said in a statement.

"Following Maverick Vinales' request, Yamaha have agreed to put an early end to their current two-year contract."

After winning the season-opening Qatar Grand Prix in March, Vinales failed to secure a podium finish until last weekend's Dutch GP, while his team mate and championship leader Fabio Quartararo won four times.

Vinales also suffered his worst MotoGP weekend in Germany this month where the Spaniard qualified 21st and finished last, while Quartararo came third.

The former Moto3 world champion said it was a difficult decision to part ways with Yahama.

"In these seasons together, we experienced both great achievements and tough times," said Vinales, who won a total of eight races with Yamaha.

"However, the underlying feeling is of mutual respect and appreciation. I am fully committed and will strive to achieve the best results for the rest of the season."

Vinales is sixth in the riders championship on 95 points, 61 points behind leader Quartararo.

Designer Helps Us See What A Yamaha YZF-R9 Could Look Like - RideApart

pret.indah.link

As motorcycle fans, many of us always want something more, and/or something different than what’s currently being offered to us by manufacturers. Take the latest Ducati Monster redesign (no, really, please, you can have it), which is a perfect illustration of how divisive change can be. Half of us want new, fantastic, different designs, while the other half likes what we like, and doesn’t embrace change easily.

That’s where designer Kar Lee, the artist behind Kardesign Koncepts, comes in. Digital tinkerers like him come in and address the things we wish existed, but unfortunately don’t. At least, they don’t yet. That Ducati Monster redesign? Lee waved his magic wand to show us what it might look like in an alternate universe. In February, 2021, Lee took us on the visual journey of how a Triumph Daytona 1200 might look. It’s fun to imagine the possibilities, isn’t it?

In June, 2021, we’re living in a post-Yamaha YZF-R7-reveal world. While rumors had been flowing for some time, the reality of it—as all realities do—pleased some riders, and irritated others. One thing that Lee supposes a lot of middleweight sportbike fans can agree on is that there’s every reason for Yamaha to consider making an MT-09-derived R9 next.

After all, Lee’s original suggestion of an MT-09-based R9 design first started making the Internet rounds back in 2017, which is forever ago in bike years. Since then, both the MT-09 and Lee’s ensuing updated designs have shifted into the design you now see before you. Lee’s new design incorporates the updated CP2 engine and componentry found on the 2021 MT-09, as well as some of the styling cues that make it fit right in stylistically with the rest of the current Yamaha family.

Racier ergonomics, and a thoroughly modern take on R-family fairings that bear a distinct family resemblance to what Yamaha’s already producing seem like an extremely logical conclusion. Would you be into an R9 if Yamaha decided to produce one, and would you want it to look like this if it did? Why or why not?

Yamaha To Launch Updated MT-07 In Japan Next Month - RideApart

pret.indah.link

When Yamaha pulled the wraps off the new MT-09 and launched it in the global market earlier this year, many of Team Blue’s fans were enamored at how much the bike had improved as compared to the previous iteration. Rightfully so, as Yamaha packed it with quite a few notable updates. In fact, you could say that the 2022 MT-09 is, for the most part, an all new bike.

However, the same can’t be said for its younger sibling, the MT-07. It seems as though Yamaha may have taken the whole “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” approach just a tad too far, as the MT-07 was indeed beginning to look like a bit of a dinosaur. In a bid to bring the bike to the modern age, Team Blue went ahead and gave the good old 07 a cosmetic overhaul. Unfortunately, that’s where the updates end.

2021 Yamaha MT-07, Matte Raven Black
2021 Yamaha MT-07, Team Yamaha Blue

So yes, the 2021 Yamaha MT-07 is pretty much the same bike as it has always been since first breaking cover in 2015. It does get a new, very Dark Side of Japan-esque LED headlight, and new bodywork to make it look even more menacing and mysterious. It also retains the 689cc Crossplane parallel-twin engine which is also found in the XSR700 and Ténéré 700.

Having said all that, this bike has now been available in the U.S. market for quite some time now. It’s interesting to note that, just like the MT-09, the updated MT-07 is only being launched in the Japanese market. Yamaha Japan has pegged the launch of the update MT-07 on July 28, 2021, and has priced the middleweight streetfighter at JPY 814,000, or the equivalent of $7,342 USD. Even more interestingly, the MT-07 will be a rather rare machine in its home country, with just 700 units of the bike to be made available in Japan.

Yamaha to add more Bluetooth-enabled models to portfolio

For the longest time, one thought that Bluetooth connectivity in the context of automobiles meant it was a feature exclusive to cars. Well, then that changed when two-wheeler manufacturers started to bring in models equipped with this handy little technology. In the list of these companies that offer bikes and scooters with Bluetooth connectivity is Yamaha. The Japanese automaker started to offer Bluetooth on its two wheelers in India with the the Yamaha FZS-FI and Yamaha FZS-FI Vintage. The list was then expanded to add the recently-launched Yamaha FZ-X, with the top-end model being available with Bluetooth connectivity. Well, the company plans to expand its list of Bluetooth-enabled two wheelers further still.

Wait, that's not all we have to share about this. We are confident the next Yamaha two wheelers in India to come equipped with the aforementioned connectivity feature will be the new Fascino and Ray ZR 125.

Yamaha Fascino hybrid instrument cluster

The company showcased the new Yamaha Fascino hybrid aong with the new Yamaha RayZR hybrid a little over a week ago. OF course, plenty of new details were revealed about the upcoming scooters in India, including that they will get Bluetooth connectivity, enabled via the Yamaha Motorcycle Connect X app. This app offers features like locate my vehicle, hazard warning, parking record, riding history, etc. Apart from these, the two scooters continue to get provisions like smart motor generator for a silent start, automatic stop-start system for better fuel economy, and side-stand engine cut-off.

Motorcycling-Vinales ends Yamaha MotoGP contract early, to leave at end of season - Yahoo Sports

Who is Raul Fernandez and why is Yamaha and KTM fighting for his signature? - Visordown

pret.indah.link

The conclusion of the Dutch TT has heralded the start of SPRING BREAK - well, the summer break - for the MotoGP paddock, a time for riders, bosses and mechanics to take a well earned rest and some stock of the season’s first half.

However, it won’t be a vacation for all, not least managers of riders with some loose ends to tie up on potential contracts for 2022.

Chief among these is Raul Fernandez, a name on everyone’s lips come the end of the weekend after he was elevated almost overnight to being a hot candidate to join one of two MotoGP teams for the 2022 season.

If you follow Moto2 then Fernandez will need little introduction as yet another Spanish hotshot being tipped for greatness in future. However, even by Spain’s lofty standards, Fernandez - in his third season of GP racing - is being touted very highly, so much so that a bidding war has reportedly broken out to secure his services in the premier class for next season.

Why is Raul Fernandez suddenly so in demand for MotoGP teams?

We have Maverick Vinales to thank for this one. The eight-time race winner is the wobbly piece at the start of a domino-effect poised to fall once it is confirmed he is annulling his Yamaha contract at the end of 2022 in favour of a shock switch to Aprilia, despite his deal intended to run to the end of 2023.

Once confirmed it leaves a very high-profile available seat in a Yamaha Factory team currently leading the standings with Fabio Quartararo. If and when this happens, it is almost certain 2020 MotoGP runner-up Franco Morbidelli will be elevated into the works team, thus leaving his Petronas SRT seat vacant.

Indeed, Petronas SRT Yamaha could well find itself with two seats up for grabs depending on which way Valentino Rossi’s decision swings regarding his future, which is split between either trying to negotiate a stay with Yamaha for 2022, retire or join his newly-graduating VR46 Racing Ducati set up.

So.... Yamaha or KTM?

It seems Yamaha wants to move quickly to get its hands on Fernandez but it faces a challenge to not only convince the 20-year old to join but also a hefty bill to buy him out of his cast-iron contract with KTM, for whom he races in in Moto2 as part of its deal with Ajo Motorsport.

Indeed, KTM has shown it has an eye for talent and is currently basking in the race-winning success of its proteges Miguel Oliveira and Brad Binder, while it holds a 1-2 in Moto2 with Remy Gardner and Fernandez, plus the Moto3 lead with rookie Pedro Acosta.

With Gardner already getting the nod to progress to MotoGP with Tech 3 Racing, KTM had originally planned to give Fernandez another year in Moto2 before an almost certain promotion for 2023. However, Yamaha’s interest, plus Fernandez’s excellent season that already includes three wins, could bring this forward in order to repel interest from elsewhere.

That would spell bad news for Danilo Petrucci and Iker Lecuona, who had been led to believe they were competing for the remaining vacant Tech 3 seat for 2022.

Assuming Fernandez does want to join Yamaha and KTM is willing to let go of what could be a very valuable asset, it will make the Iwata firm pay to the tune of a reported €500,000.

That said, with KTM putting huge faith and resource behind its riders to excellent effect, would Yamaha appeal to young Fernandez?

He’s saying very little and towing the party line of assuming he is doing Moto2 next season, but come the end of the summer break a very important part of the 2022 MotoGP jigsaw is likely to fall into place.

MotoGP, Rossi says Vinales leaving Yamaha will make no difference for his future - GPOne.com

Valentino Rossi had high hopes for the Assen weekend. Despite some flaws, he was always not too far from the best and a good race seemed to be within his reach. Instead everything went wrong from the start and a crash closed the matter for good. All this came close to the summer break, in which he will decide his future.

“It was a great shame, because my pace was not bad - says the Doctor - Unfortunately I made a bad start, because we made some changes on the bike for the start and I wasn’t comfortable, like at Sachsenring. So I found myself far behind and tried to overtake, but when you follow another bike the front tire has problems, you lose grip. I had just passed Bastianini, I tried to push and I crashed ”.

The cause?

"I lost the front, we looked at the data but we didn't really understand why. In the end I was lucky, it was just a crash but at high speed and I didn't hurt myself ”.

Will this result affect your decision for your future?

“It is not just a matter of today. I knew it was going to be a difficult year, a big challenge to face, but as I've always said my decision depends on the results, and they weren't what I expected, this doesn't help ”.

Vinales said he is not sure he will stay with Yamaha in 2022. Could this have an impact?

“It seems that there may be some changes, something we didn't expect, but for me it doesn't change anything because my decision is linked to results. What happens in Yamaha with the other riders will make no difference to me ”.

Yesterday Aramco's sponsorship for your team was questioned, what can you tell us?

“That we are doing everything in good faith and, personally, I have spoken to the prince 8 times. The last time was Thursday, he told me he was very happy and that everything was fine. When it comes to such important sponsorship, however, there is always someone who wants that money to be for himself, who is not happy (laughs). I hope that the prince has told me the truth, I am a person inclined to trust. That's all I know ”.

What do you think of the penalty given to Bagnaia? Your overtaking move on Stoner at Laguna Seca would have been sanctioned under these rules.

"The rules have changed because now the situation and overtaking have become more extreme than in 2008. The tracks are also different, they have removed the grass on the outside of the curves and replaced it with green painted asphalt, it is a safety factor. Now it's less dangerous, but you need a rule, otherwise everyone would go over it. For Bagnaia it was a shame, but if he was penalized it is because he went outside the limits 4 times, I think the problem with him was that he struggled a lot at turn 12 ”.

Yamaha R15, MT15 Bluetooth update coming soon - Illinoisnewstoday.com

pret.indah.link

With the recent launch of the new FZ-X, Yamaha has made it clear that it will offer Bluetooth connectivity as an option throughout its Indian lineup. In this regard, the company has updated its lineup of scooters, including the Fascino Fi 125 and Ray ZR with Bluetooth capabilities.

The updated scooter will be available in a few days. Yamaha currently offers this feature in the full range of FZs, including the FZ Fi, FZ-X, and FZ25. After the bike maker launches the updated scooter, we will extend these new features to our flagship models, the R15 and MT15. The schedule for these models to take advantage of this feature has not yet been clarified.

Yamaha Connect App

You can pair your rider’s smartphone with your bike’s instrument console via the Yamaha Motorcycle App using a Bluetooth connection. There are two iterations of this app available in India-Connect X and Y-Connect. The former provides features such as boarding history, response, battery voltage, parking records, incoming calls, SMS and email alerts.

The Y Connect version is a more premium alternative to the former, which offers all the standard technologies offered by ConnectX, along with maintenance recommendations, fuel consumption, malfunction notifications, rotating dashboards, phone battery level indicators, and more. is.

Flagship Motorcycles-MT15 and R15 will be available in this version of Yamaha Connect. This makes the bike a more lucrative and modern package, but these updates are expected to increase the price of these models as well.

FZ-X accessories

Apart from its launch, Yamaha also announced a number of official accessories for the new FZ-X motorcycle. These include seat covers, fuel tank pads, bike covers, chrome-decorated rear-view mirrors, LED turn indicators, rear footrests, engine guards and prices range from Rs 300 to Rs 1,490. The starting price of the FZ-X is 1.17 larks, which is about 12,000 rupees higher than the standard 150cc FZ model.

Yamaha currently has only seven models in its Indian lineup. It is one of the few mass retailers in India that exports more models than it sells in the domestic market. This is because we have a large selection of models in our export lineup.

In May 2021, 11,613 units were sold domestically and 17,512 units were exported overseas. Yamaha plans to expand its Indian lineup in the future, but there is no confirmation from Japanese brands at this time.

Vinales says leaving Yamaha "an option" but denies Aprilia links - Motorsport.com

pret.indah.link

Vinales has been at the centre of a silly season bombshell this weekend at the Dutch Grand Prix after news emerged from the paddock that he could be leaving Yamaha at the end of the season and joining Aprilia for 2022.

The Spaniard does have a contract with Yamaha that runs to the end of 2022, signed at the beginning of last year, but the relationship between both parties has soured this season.

Motorsport.com reported on Saturday that the deal for Vinales to quit Yamaha and to join Aprilia was not yet done as of Sunday, but both Yamaha and Vinales are looking for an amicable exit from their contract.

After suffering his worst-ever MotoGP weekend in Germany last week, where he qualified 21st and finished the race last, Vinales said Yamaha’s response to his troubles this year seemed disrespectful.

After finishing 2.7 seconds behind teammate Fabio Quartararo in Sunday’s Assen race in second, Vinales denied his Aprilia links but admits he’s been thinking about leaving Yamaha since the start of the season.

"No it's not true," he said when asked by DAZN if he was going to Aprilia.

"Now, for the moment we go to the summer break and we'll see.

“Of course it's an option [leaving Yamaha], I'm thinking about it since the beginning of the season, because I'm not able to show my full potential [with the Yamaha], I can't tell you more.”

Vinales dropped from pole to fifth at the start after encountering an issue with his clutch and “had nothing more” to catch Quartararo once he’d worked his way up to second again on lap 15.

"At the start, I don't know why the clutch was burnt, then it was impossible to pass [Takaaki] Nakagami,” he added.

“Then I had nothing more at the end to catch Fabio.

“It wasn't a bad race, the only thing was that behind people the front tyre went flat, but that's not an excuse.

"I went out with the soft tyre at the front because I knew I had a very good pace for the second half of the race, I thought I could do a bit more, but the truth is that I didn't have what I had yesterday.

"We couldn't finish, it was a good weekend, but passing Nakagami and Pecco [Bagnaia] was difficult, especially Taka, I was losing half a second behind him.

"The start penalised me, but on the straight I couldn't gain position. It's important to go home with a podium.”

Yamaha FZ-X vs Hero Xpulse 200T: Which motorcycle should you buy? - Times Now

Yamaha FZ-X vs Hero Xpulse 200T: Which motorcycle should you buy?

Yamaha FZ-X vs Hero Xpulse 200T: Which motorcycle should you buy?

Retro styled motorcycles are becoming increasingly popular in India and this is evident by some launches in the recent past like Royal Enfield Meteor 350, Honda H'ness CB350, CB350 RS, and more. The latest retro bike to be launched in India is Yamaha FZ-X that was launched a few days ago and costs ₹1.17 lakh. But in case you want the Bluetooth variant then you will have to spend ₹1.2 lakh. All prices are ex-showroom, Delhi. The FZ-X is a retro-styled roadster based on 150 cc Yamaha FZ range. It gets retro design elements from the Japanese brand's XSR range along with modern touches like LED headlamp with LED DRL, blacked-out mechanical bits, upswept exhaust, and more. Yamaha FZ-X is a direct rival to Hero Xpulse 200T which is Xpulse 200 adventure bike's tourer variant. But which of these is a better tourer and deserves your money? Let's try to find that out by comparing the two bikes across parameters like performance, suspension setup, features, etc.

FZX blue.jpeg

Yamaha FZ-X offers 165 mm of ground clearance while Xpulse 200T has a ground clearance of 178 mm, making the latter more capable of negotiating deep potholes and nasty speed breakers. And while FZ-X has a seat height of 810 mm, the Xpulse has 800 mm of seat height, suggesting that both the bikes are easy to ride even for short riders. However, the FZ-X weighs only 139 kg (kerb weight) while the Xpulse 200T is slightly heavier and tips the scale at 154 kg (kerb weight). This difference makes FZ-X more agile and manageable than Xpulse 200T.

  FZ-X Xpulse 200T
Ground clearance 165 mm 178 mm
Seat height 810 mm 800 mm
Weight (kerb) 139 kg 154 kg

Yamaha FZ-X vs Hero Xpulse 200T: Features

Both the motorcycles get a fully digital instrument panel for readouts like speed, tachometer, trip meter, odometer, fuel gauge, ABS indicator, etc. And both bikes also get Bluetooth connectivity but with different functionalities. The FZ-X gets Bluetooth with Y-Connect smartphone that offers features like call alert, SMS and e-mail notifications, fuel consumption details, Revs dashboard (engine rpm, rate of acceleration, real-time fuel consumption), malfunction notification, battery level, oil-check timing, locate your bike, parking record, riding history, and more. The bike also gets a side-stand engine cutoff that doesn't let the bike start unless the side stand is completely disengaged.

Hero Xpulse 200T's Bluetooth console, on the other hand, offers conveniences like turn-by-turn navigation and call alerts. The Xpulse 200T, sadly, still doesn't have the option of Hero Connect smartphone app that would have placed it on part with the FZ-X.

Yamaha FZ-X vs Hero Xpulse 200T: Specs

.

Xpulse 200t rider.png

The FZ-X uses a 149 cc, air-cooled engine making 12 bhp and 13 Nm of peak torque. This engine is paired to a five-speed constant mesh gearbox. Hero XPulse 200T, on the other hand, draws power from a 199.6 cc oil-cooled engine that puts out 18 bhp and 16 Nm. This engine is also available with a five-speed gearbox.

  Engine Gearbox Power Torque
FZ-X 149 cc 5-speed 12 bhp 13.3 Nm
Xpulse 200T 199.6 cc 5-speed 18 bhp 16 Nm

These specifications reveal that Xpulse 200T is more powerful than the FZ-X. However, Hero tourer's power advantage is expected to be marginally offset because of the weight difference between Xpulse 200T and Yamaha FZ-X.

Yamaha FZ-X makes use of 41 mm telescopic forks with seven-step adjustable mono-shock while the braking duties are tended to by 282 mm front disc brake and 220 mm rear disc brake with single-channel ABS. The Xpulse 200T, on the other hand, uses 37 mm telescopic forks with a seven-step adjustable mono-shock and the braking hardware comprises 276 mm front and 220 mm rear disc brakes with single-channel ABS.

These details reveal that the FZ-X has superior suspension and braking hardware as compared to Hero Xpulse 200T.

FZX rear.jpeg

Yamaha FZ-X vs Hero Xpulse 200T: Price

The FZ-X starts at ₹1.17 lakh for the base variant while the Bluetooth model gets a price tag of ₹1.2 lakh. Hero Xpulse 200T, in comparison to this, costs ₹1.16 lakh. All prices are ex-showroom, Delhi.

  Price (ex-showroom, Delhi)
Yamaha FZ-X ₹1.17 lakh to ₹1.2 lakh
Hero Xpulse 200T ₹1.16 lakh

This means that Xpulse 200T is marginally cheaper than Yamaha FZ-X. However, it has more power on tap and higher ground clearance. The FZ-X, however, is more feature-rich and gets a better suspension setup with superior braking hardware. So, which of these touring bikes will you choose? Let us know in the comments section below.
