Someone has a blue Honda with a few missing parts after it hit and destroyed a bus stop on Newton Bridge Road this past weekend.
An Athens-Clarke police officer was dispatched to the location about 8 a.m. Monday, where he found the structure badly damaged by a vehicle that appeared to be headed westbound when it left the road and crashed into the shelter.
The officer discovered parts from a blue Honda amid the debris of the bus stop, according to the report.
The officer checked all accident reports but no one reported a wreck at the bus stop. The shelter was valued at $3,000.
A spokeswoman for Athens-Clarke County Transit said Thursday the bus stop will have to be replaced. The stop was a regular shelter and not one of the art-designed shelters found at locations around town.
Anyone with information concerning the incident can call the Crime Stoppers tip line at 706-705-4775.
