Suzuki is expanding its model range with the new Across SUV, based on the Toyota Rav4.
The new model, offered as part of a collaboration between Toyota and Suzuki, will go on sale in Autumn with a plug-in hybrid powertrain - a first for the brand.
Another model, based on the Corolla will also launch this year.
The Suzuki Across features a restyled front end and is powered by Toyota’s 2.5-litre plug-in hybrid engine.
The powertrain is mated to an 18.1kWh battery, giving an electric range of almost 50 miles. CO2 emissions are rated at 22g/km.
Two electric motors supplement the petrol engine, giving a maximum power output of 185PS and all-wheel-drive.
The interior is carried over from the Rav4 and features a nine-inch touchscreen infotainment system, while the boot offers 490 litres of cargo space.
Drivers can control the powertrain via four modes, which include an EV mode, Hybrid mode and a battery charging mode. There’s also an Auto setting where the car will choose for you.
The Across is fitted with a range of driver assistance systems, including adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitor and lane keeping assist.
Prices for the Suzuki Across are yet to be confirmed.
