With in-game branding starting to make its mark, Riot Games has entered into an agreement with Honda that will see the maker of automobiles, motorcycles, and power equipment become the first banner partner for the League of Legends Championship Series (LCS) playoffs.

Earlier this year, Riot Games announced the Summoner’s Rift Arena Banners that would see brand placement on virtual banners inside the game itself, with Mastercard and Alienware announced as earlier partners to sign up for the new inventory. Since their implementation, other regions including Europe’s LEC and Korea’s LCK have had multiple partners opt in to the in-game banner program including Kia, KitKat, Logitech, and Beko. The LCS has had banners implemented into its broadcast since the initial launch, but they have only featured variations of the LCS logo until now.

The Honda banners will start appearing from the start of the LCS Playoffs and will be visible throughout the playoff season as well as the LCS Summer Finals taking place Sept. 5-6. Additionally,  Honda will be introducing the “Honda Performance Play” that will showcase highly skilled plays. Talent will discuss these high skill plays during broadcasts during replays.

Honda is currently the exclusive automaker partner of the LCS and has a partnership with perennial LCS powerhouse Team Liquid. The company’s deal with Riot also extends to North America’s amateur League of Legends scene through its sponsorship of Scouting Grounds – an NFL combine-esque event designed to highlight new talent in the region.
