The system is aimed at educating Honda and Acura owners on ways to improve their driving and reduce their fuel consumption. The first factor the system looks at is smooth driving. "Smooth accelerations and gentle braking can indicate a decreased risk of being involved in a crash or having an insurance claim," says Honda.
The second factor is speed responsibility. This one speaks for itself, as higher speeds add to the risk of crashing. The third factor is consistent driving: driving during risky hours of the day such as in peak morning traffic will lower your score. The last factor is time behind the wheel. This indicator judges the amount of time spent driving the car, which relates to your risk of being involved in a vehicle accident. After three months of driving, owners with higher scores will receive a message through the app notifying them that their driving has made them eligible for an automobile insurance discount. Good luck getting good scores in a Type R or NSX.
