World’s Most Perfectly Preserved Honda Prelude Type SH Will Travel You Back In Time - CarScoops

Finding a low-mileage example of the 1999 Honda Prelude Type SH in such pristine condition is next to impossible these days, so it’s no wonder that this specific car belongs to American Honda.

As part of the company’s private collection, this pretty much perfect Prelude Type SH landed on the hands of Redline Reviews showing just under 3,000 miles on the odometer.

This Prelude had just 600 miles on when it was recommissioned last year, as it spent most of its life inside a warehouse and as a display car in the Honda museum.

SH stands for ‘Super Handling’, with Honda adding its then-new ATTS (Active Torque Transfer System) differential together with stiffer springs, dampers and fatter anti-roll bars, making the fifth-generation Prelude more agile at cornering.

Under the bonnet lies a naturally aspirated 2.2-liter VTEC four-cylinder that’s paired to a close-ratio five-speed manual transmission. Power is rated at 200 HP and 158 lb-ft (214 Nm) of torque, with VTEC kicking in at around 5,200 rpm.

With over 20 years having passed since this Honda rolled off the production line, it’s genuinely impressive to witness the vehicle’s immaculate condition. The exterior paint emits that deep gloss like it’s brand new, while the interior is a proper trip down memory lane, complete with 1990s velour-like seats and the thin-rim Honda four-spoke steering wheel. It’s so good you can almost smell the nostalgia here.
