As the world looks to go electric, companies have taken to developing their own form of electric propulsion systems. Yamaha also is likely working on those motors.

In a video posted on social media, Yamaha revealed that its electric division is working on two electric motors, one of which will power some of their future electric bikes.

As seen in the video, the Takashi Hara, a member of Yamaha’s Engineering division 2 explains, “We developed the EV motors first with our motorcycles, and we’ve continued that work, but also combined the know-how from our engines to create these new units.”

Hara goes on to say that the new 35 kW motor will be suitable for all small mobility motorcycles.

The other one is a 150 kW motor that will be used for electric cars. Hara also says compactness was of paramount importance and have leveraged their casting technologies to create an overall compact unit.

The video also shows the motor being tested on a test car saying instant torque is one of the key features of the new motors.
