Suzuki has reintroduced the Jimny in the United Kingdom, two months after retiring it due to the stricter emissions regulations, this time as a light commercial vehicle (LCV).

The small 4×4 retains the characteristics of the SUV variant, while dropping the rear seats for an improved cargo area, with a flat floor and a partition separating it from the cockpit. The model boasts 863 liters (30.5 cu-ft) behind the front seats, 33 liters (1.2 cu-ft) more than the passenger version with the rear seats folded down.

Power still comes from the 1.5-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine, which produces 102 PS (101 HP / 75 kW) at 6,000 rpm and 130 Nm (96 lb-ft) of torque at 4,000 rpm, mated to a five-speed manual transmission and part-time four-wheel drive system, with low-range transfer gear. Tipping the scales at 1,090 kg (2,403 lbs), it has a 145 km/h (90 mph) maximum speed, returns 7.2/5.4/6.1 l/100 km (32.7/43.6/38.6 mpg US / 39.2/52.3/46.3 mpg UK) in city/highway/combined and emits 138 g/km of CO2 in the old NEDC cycle.

The new Jimny LCV has a 210-mm (8.3-in) ground clearance, a 4.9-meter (16ft1in) turning radius, approach and departure angles of 37 and 49 degrees respectively, and ramp breakover angle of 28 degrees. It measures 3,480 mm (137 in) from bumper to bumper, and is 1,645 mm (65 in) wide and 1,720 mm (68 in) tall, with a 2,250 mm (88.5 in) wheelbase.

Full pricing details have yet to be announced, but we will remind you that the passenger variant of the Jimny used to start at £15,370 (equal to $20,079). Furthermore, the production of the new model might be limited throughout the new model year, but it hasn’t been confirmed so far.
