September 2020 has been a promising month for most of the two-wheeler makers in the country. While Bajaj Auto reported a 10 per cent sales growth as compared to September 2019, Suzuki Motorcycle India reported 23.7 per cent growth last month as compared to August 2020. Another two-wheeler company joining this list is Yamaha Motor India Group that registered 17 per cent sales growth in September 2020 as compared to September 2019. The Japanese motorcycle sold 63,052 units of bikes and scooters last month as opposed to 53,727 units in September 2019. 

Yamaha noted that September 2020 was the third consecutive month this year when the company reported sales year-on-year sales growth.  In July 2020, the company had sold 49,989 units as compared to 47,918 units in July 2019, marking a 4.3 per cent sales growth. In August, however, Yamaha witnessed a demand spike of 14.8 per cent, selling 60,505 units as opposed to 52,706 units in August 2019.

Going forward, Yamaha is hoping to rack up more sales during the upcoming festive season and is expects sales in October to be better than September. The company expects overall demand to grow during the festival seasons starting from Nava Ratri and onward to Diwali and Christmas. In an effort to lure customers, the brand will also roll out attractive finance schemes and low down payment options, especially for 125 cc scooters. 

Yamaha's current lineup includes 125 cc scooters like Fascino, RayZR and RayZR Street Rally while the company's range of mid-capacity bikes includes FZ, FZS, MT-15, R15 V3.0 and the recently launched FZ 25 and FZS 25. Besides these, Yamaha also retails YZF R1 and MT-09 superbikes in the country.
