INGLEWOOD — A Honda Civic traveling at a high rate of speed crashed into a light pole in Inglewood early Wednesday morning, ejecting one person and trapping another in the vehicle.
Firefighters responded around 1 a.m. to the intersection of Hawthorne Boulevard and 103rd Street and found the car wrapped around the pole, according to Battalion Chief Robert Harris of the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
The man who was ejected was found about 40 feet from the Civic, Harris said.
The impact of the crash caused the light pole to collapse, and the vehicle was wrapped around the pole, making it difficult for firefighters to free the trapped man, Harris said, adding it took crews about 40 minutes to free the man from the wreckage.
Both men were taken to a hospital in critical condition.
The ages and names of the men were not disclosed.
