An anti-tank rocket-propelled grenade launcher was found in a car abandoned in Grand Terrace after the vehicle was struck by a bullet, authorities say.
The grenade launcher was sitting in plain view on the back seat of a Honda when San Bernardino County Sheriff’s deputies arrived at the scene of a single-vehicle accident near Glendora Drive and Barton Road on Friday at around 12:30 a.m., the department said in a news release.
The driver had fled on foot, but officers found the vehicle’s rear window had been shattered by a bullet entering through the passenger side, which then struck the inside windshield and landed on the dashboard. Deputies also found a trace of blood between the driver and passenger side of the car.
The vehicle is registered to a Colton resident who is on parole for assault with an automatic weapon, according to authorities. It was not clear if investigators have contacted him or if he was the driver at the time of the incident.
