Established in 1955, Yamaha is one of the most reliable automobile names in the world. While the likes of Harley and Indian dominate the market for high-end motorcycles, and the likes of KTM remain popular among the motor-racing audience, Yamaha remains the go-to brand for mid-priced bikes.
The Japanese automobile manufacturer is renowned for producing super efficient bikes that are not too heavy on the pocket, and the 2021 Yamaha FZ 07 is no different. Termed as ''Dark Attraction'' by the makers, the all-new FZ 07 is a great mix of performance and style.
Let's take a close look at this all-new Yamaha monster. Here's what we expect from the 2021 Yamaha FZ 07.
Top Performance
Welcome to the Dark Side! Not too long ago, Yamaha rebranded the FZ series, renaming it Yamaha MT. Yamaha USA called the rebranding ''part of Yamaha's ongoing initiative to strengthen a passionate, global community of MT riders sharing the distinctive - Dark side of Japan - inspiration.''
The 2021 Yamaha MT 07 or as it's popularly known, the 2021 FZ 07 is the latest addition to Yamaha's family. Yamaha bikes are renowned for all things related to performance and the all-new FZ 07 is no different. At the heart of this beast is the 689cc liquid-cooled, DOHC, 4-stroke, 4-valves per cylinder engine. The advanced twin-cylinder engine provides outstanding low to mid torque with linear throttle response and strong high-rpm pulling power. These characteristics of the engine help in maximizing ride excitement when you take on the streets. The engine maintains the same level of response due to its intake air duct design, exhaust system specs - now integrated 2-into-1 exhaust pipes and muffler - and updated ECU specs. The makers have optimized the fuel-injection settings to bring refinements to the engine’s linear response characteristics while the throttle is slightly open at low rpm. The two-cylinder engine features Yamaha’s Crossplane Crankshaft Concept 270-degree crank that provides linear torque development in response to the rider’s throttle input. Offering excellent rider-machine communication, the CP2 engine is also light, slim, and compact.
The six-speed transmission aids the all-new FZ 07's performance, keeping the overall engine size shorter from front-to-back and optimizing weight balance. This reduces the need for frequent shifts while you're riding. The 2021 FZ 07 also features a new exhaust system with integrated 2-into-1 exhaust pipes and a muffler. A seat height of 31.7-inch and a maximum ground clearance of 5.5-inch makes this beast a super comfy ride. A fuel capacity of 3.7 gallons and a fuel economy of 58 MPG makes the 2021 Yamaha FZ 07 a reliable friend for long rides.
Stunning Bodywork
The 2021 Yamaha FZ 07 has been designed and assembled with great attention to detail. This beast features a compact frame design. The high-strength steel frame provides optimal balance while you're riding. Compared to its predecessors, the 2021 FZ 07 features an improved and assertive riding position. The tapered handlebar is 32mm wider and 19mm taller, and offers improved feelings of control and comfort for a wider range of rider sizes. The brakes are sturdy and strong. The front wheel has a dual 298mm hydraulic disc brake and the rear wheel has a 245mm hydraulic disc brake. This Yamaha beast is equipped with a 41mm telescopic front fork suspension with 5.1-inch travel to ensure a safe and comfortable ride. The rear has a single shock with 5.1-inch travel and a spring preload that can adjust itself as and when the situation demands.
The lightweight cast-aluminum wheels work in tandem with the Michelin Road 5 tires to offer excellent grip and agility. The newly designed parts and components are integrated with minimal structural elements, creating an attractive design that emphasizes pure Hyper Naked character. With a silhouette that is synonymous with the FZ series' signature statement of torque and power, the MT-07 showcases a tight, compact, and powerful appearance. This beast also features a new multi-function negative display LCD dash. It features a black background and white readouts. The arrangement of features on this LCD dash features a larger display for the clock, current gear, trip/odometers, and tachometer. The LED projector lighting is like a cherry on top.
The Trust of Yamaha
It is no secret that Yamaha is among one of the most trusted automobile brands on the planet. While the likes of Harley and Indian have dominated the market for luxury motorcycles over the years, Yamaha has been churning out some mean vehicles that are not too heavy on the pocket. And the Japanese giant has been doing so for over 6 decades.
The 2021 Yamaha FZ 07 comes with the same assured trust and quality of Yamaha. It is a treat to ride and doesn't burn a hole in your pocket. The all-new FZ model is available in multiple color schemes: Storm Flou, Matte Raven Black, and Team Yamaha Blue. With an MSRP of $7,699 plus destination charges, the 2021 Yamaha FZ 07 is set to hit the streets around Spring 2021.
