Yamaha SR-C20A is a compact all-in-one soundbar - IGN Nordic

I have been contemplating for a while to buy a soundbar. A lot friends have told me that they are more than worth their money, but the models they recommend are rather expensive. Next to these more expensive variants, there are cheaper models that also have all the features you would want for your entertainment system. I got to try the Yamaha SR-C20A which is a soundbar in the cheaper segment, but still has all the features you want. I have come to the conclusion that even a cheaper soundbar adds a lot to your set-up and confirms for me that sound is just as important as your screen.

I have been using the LGCX55 for a couple months, the Oled television that we and a lot of other people recommend for next-gen gaming. The screen is fantastic and makes your visuals look great, but the standard audio from the tv isn't of the highest quality. I notice myself that the audio is fine, but in comparrison to a soundbar it's pretty flat and mainly miss a subwoofer for deeper bass sounds. After using the Yamaha SR-C20A I can already tell that using the soundbar is a great upgrade and can recommend it if you have about 200 to 250 euro to spend.

What does the Yamaha SR-C20A offer?

What you notice immediately after setting up the soundbar, is the compact design, while still providing solid audio in all directions. This will give a marginal upgrade to your movie and gaming experience, which draws you into the story even more. Especially for the price, the sound quality is very good, even though the sound sounds a bit hollow at times, which makes the pronunciation in some tv shows hard to understand. This remained an issue after tuning the bass for a bit, but this is a minor point that wasn't noticeable at all times.

Even though the soundbar isn't very high, it blocked my tv a bit. The hight of the soundbar blocked the bottom of my screen a bit which also blocked the on/off sensor. This wasn't really annoying while watching tv, but it wasn't ideal, so check if you have a good spot to place the soundbar if you consider placing it in front of your television. If your TV is connected to the wall, you won't have this issue of course. You could even place the soundbar on the wall if you would want.

To close it off, I have to name some technical qualities. The SR-C20A has 100 Watt power and a bluetooth connection with Dolby audio. There is even a special gaming mode, as part of four total sound modes, which you can either control with the app, or the remote.

Conclussion

With its comact design, that sadly doesn't fit well with my tv, and its more than fine audio quality, the Yamaha SR-C20A is a really nice soundbar to get. The soundbar will definitely lift your set-up to a higher level and makes you enjoy your games and movies even more. There are cheaper models than the Yamaha SR-C20A, but there are definitely more expensive models. For its price, the quality of the Yamaha SR-C20A is great and a very good purchase.
