COVID has once again reared its ugly head. This time it is causing the cancellation of the 2021 edition of Honda’s Adventure Roads experience. This year’s event was to have been held in Iceland, one of my favorite places to ride on the planet. It’s a place where you can in a single day, can see volcanos, mountains, ocean, lunar-like landscapes, and green fields.
The event would have been the third edition of Honda’s dual-sport series. Thirty riders planned to attend riding Honda’s CRF1100 Africa Twin around and through Iceland’s spectacular volcanic landscapes.
Honda says it reluctantly made the decision to cancel. They say that the ongoing certainty around international travel restrictions is the main cause. The decision to cancel the event at this early stage was not taken lightly. Honda says it made to decision to give the signed-up riders the ability to plan their 2021 schedules accordingly. And Honda says that they are extremely grateful for the understanding of all participants. According to Honda, it was a “difficult decision”.
That said, Honda will hold the Icelandic version of its Adventure Series in 2022. They have set new provisional dates of Friday, June 24, 2022, through Monday, July 4, 2022, for the 2022 running of the event.
Honda is offering full refunds to the trip’s participants. And, they are now able to hold their place for the 2022 edition of Honda Adventure Roads with an unspecified small deposit.
Taste of Iceland
In the interim, Honda invites riders to get a taste of previous Adventure Roads rides to Norway in 2017 and South Africa in 2019 with short videos. If you’d like to get a glimpse of what to expect on a Honda Adventure Roads experience, these videos may interest you.
