Yamaha began the design and manufacture of Marine Outboard Engines over 60 years ago, with the first P7 being introduced in 1960. Yamaha Motor has come a long way in terms of horse power and technology since that first Outboard engine, but the same company mission has remained: delivering the feeling of Kando from all Yamaha Outboards.
Kando is the simultaneous feelings of deep satisfaction and intense excitement that we experience when we encounter something of exceptional value. Whilst for some this means an adrenaline rush that comes from power and speed on the water, for others it is the thrill and excitement of a new adventure or the ability to consistently rely on a dependable outboard for regular tasks afloat.
While continually striving to push the boundaries of performance, efficiency and usability, Yamaha engineers know that the end goal is to empower users by providing the best possible experience throughout the life of their outboard.
Powerful, light and compact engines
The High Power segment is the ticket to adventure and boat owners know that Yamahas proven reliability and refined performance is unparalleled for everything from Day Cruisers to deep-V hull RIBs. Whether offshore fishing, or snorkelling with the kids, enjoying casual meanders up and down the coast, or high-speed water sports there is a smooth, powerful option to fit every need.
The 200hp and 150hp four-stroke outboards were both revelations when they were first introduced in 2002 and 2004 respectively and have since become among of the best-selling, most trusted, engines in the world. The latest units benefit from an in-line four-cylinder configuration and weight-saving technology throughout. The lighter weight, better suited to a wider range of boats, also helps improve fuel-efficiency, as well as performance.
When style and function meet
For the 2022 boating season the stunning Pearl White colour that was first introduced with the XTO 425hp V8, and more recently the 300hp V6 and 250hp V6 outboard will now be available in the 200hp and 150hp High Power engines.
With a consistent focus on surpassing customer desires, Yamaha extends the luxurious look to a wider range of engines to complement an extensive array of boat designs and styles. The new shade comes complete with Yamaha’s revolutionary ACP-221 5 Layer electro-deposited, anti-corrosive paint system that provides a tough, five-layer barrier against corrosion.
The latest rigging updates which were launched and implemented earlier this year will also be available on the new 2022 model 200hp and 150hp engines. The new side mount Drive-by-Wire remote control compatible with Helm Master EX (HMEX) system brings the benefits of HMEX to a broader array of boats.
The Helm Master EX control rigging system elevates boat operations with a sophisticated selection of enhanced features, additional ergonomics and improved styling. The Helm Master system has an all-new joystick with state-of-the-art software which makes for smoother shifting and single-function buttons for easy operation and improved overall function.
Digital Electric Steering (DES) is also available on the 200hp and 150hp. DES makes for a roomier cockpit area with no conventional steering pumps and hoses. Yamaha reinforces its position as providing the best new options to ensure that every day spent in the boat is better than the last.
The 200hp and 150hp models have long been favourites for a twin rig setup due to their sleek profile. Now also available in Pearl White; the narrow width of these outboards creates an opportunity for twin installation which is not available elsewhere.
It gives more freedom to boat builders to incorporate boarding and swim platforms. In addition, it enhances the handling of the boat as there is more freedom of movement, which is key for the HMEX system, particularly useful on single installations.
