American Honda Motor is recalling 628,124 Acura and Honda vehicles because the low-pressure fuel pump inside the gas tank may fail.
Fuel pump components in the tank could crack due to exposure to solvents during the manufacturing process. The recalled 2018-2020 cars, minivans, and SUVs may have fuel pumps with defective parts that could prevent an engine from starting or cause the engine to stall while driving, potentially increasing the risk of a crash. A serious problem may cause a warning light to illuminate in the instrument cluster.
This recall is an expansion of recall 20V314 announced in May 2020.
Honda is not aware of any accidents or injuries related to this condition.
Owners will be notified starting mid-May 2021. After which, they can take their vehicle to an Acura or Honda dealership to have the fuel pump replaced free of charge.
Owners who had this condition repaired previously are eligible for reimbursement.
