Yamaha FZ-X, the upcoming modern-retro motorcycle from the Japanese carmaker, was recently spotted testing on the Yamuna Expressway. In fact, its dimensions and engine details have been leaked ahead of its official arrival. While there is no official word on its launch timeline, the model is likely to arrive in coming months. Here’s everything we know about the upcoming new Yamaha bike so far.
Design, Features
The spy pictures reveal that the Yamaha FZX will share its design bits with the FFZ series. It will have a flat seat offering upright riding posture. Some of its key elements will include a muscular fuel tank, alloy wheels, short rear section, sleek turn indicators, upswept exhaust, fork gaiters and a digital instrument cluster.
Dimensions
As per the leaked document, the Yamaha FZX measures 2020mm in length, 785mm in width and 115mm in height. Compared to its donor sibling (FZ) that’s 1990mm long, 780mm wide and 1080mm tall, it will look bigger and have better road presence. Both models, however, sit on a 1330mm long wheelbase.
Engine Specs
Powering the new Yamaha FZ-X will be a 149cc, air-cooled SOHC engine paired to a 5-speed constant mesh gearbox. The motor makes a peak power of 12.4PS at 7250rpm and 13.3Nm of torque at 5500rpm. It’s the same powertrain that does duty in the Yamaha FZ.
Suspension/Braking System
Similar to the powertrain, the upcoming FZ-X might share its suspension and braking mechanism with the Yamaha FZ. It might come with the telescopic front forks and 7-step adjustable monocross rear suspension unit. The braking power will come from 282mm and 220mm front and rear disc brakes respectively. The single-channel ABS (anti-lock braking system) will be standard. Read – Yamaha MT 15 Will Soon Get Dual-Channel ABS In India
