“Today with the introduction of the new HondaJet Elite S we take another step forward in expanding the aircraft’s capability through increased payload range, enhanced avionics technologies, and bold new color styling,” Fujino said.

The 200-pound increase in maximum takeoff weight will allow a single pilot to carry five passengers an additional 120 nautical miles or carry one more person.

Enhancements to the Garmin G3000 avionics suite include FAA Data Comm, which allows the aircraft to receive and respond via text to air traffic control clearance and en route services where available in the United States. The Elite S will also include an Automatic Communications Addressing and Reporting System (ACARS), which allows for text-based messaging with both ATC and a company’s operations center.

Disabling the datalink mode of the radio allows it to be used as a third VHF radio, increasing dispatch reliability. The aircraft will also now feature enhanced nosewheel steering dubbed Advanced Steering Augmentation System, which, according to Honda, “reduces pilot workload and enhances safety for missions in specific weather conditions.”

Finally, the Elite S includes three new exterior paint colors: Gunmetal, Luxe Gold, and Deep Sea Blue.

Fujino said the Elite S will be available starting in June.

The Model S is the third iteration of the twinjet. The HondaJet was certified in December 2015. The Elite, which included a number of avionics upgrades and modifications to decrease cabin noise, debuted in 2018.
