Yamaha has recently been in the limelight with the introduction of a new FZ-X bike with a new retro style. Not only this, Japanese bike makers have also updated their lineup of scooters consisting of Fascino 125 Fi and Ray ZR. We’ve already talked about Fascino, but the RayZR update is on the same line as its siblings.
Updated features
Like the Fascino 125 Fi, the Ray ZR will now offer an optional Bluetooth connection. This allows riders to connect the scooter’s instrument console to their smartphone via the Yamaha Motorcycle Connect X app. It provides access to a lot of information about the scooter display, such as calls and text alerts.
Conversely, riders can remotely access vehicle information such as “find their car,” “ride history,” “parking records,” and “danger” from their mobile phones. Besides this, the updated RayZR also has LED headlights mounted on the updated apron. The scooter features a tall set of DRLs and a colored flyscreen on the front end from older models.
New hybrid technology
However, the most important addition to the equipment is a hybrid assist system to the powertrain. RayZR performs the same function as Fascino. This hybrid setup features a new Smart Motor Generator (SMG) system that acts as an electric motor and provides power assist when accelerating from a stop.
Therefore, it reduces the anxiety caused by wobbling at the start and uphill. The power assist system will be canceled 3 seconds after starting, when the throttle is turned off or when the engine speed exceeds the specified level. The output remains the same while the mileage / mileage is increased by up to 16%.
Upgraded cosmetics
In terms of design, the RayZR is very similar to its predecessor, except for subtle styling tweaks, including a new color option and a pair of handlebar knuckle guards. It will continue to be available in two variations, the standard version and the street rally version, the latter with updated body graphics and decals.
New paint schemes include standard variants reddish yellow cocktails, racing blue, cyan blue, matte red metallic, and metallic black. Top spec street rally trim is available in matt green and matte orange options.
The specs are the same as the updated Fascino FI. It is equipped with a 125cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine and returns 8.2bhp output and 10.3Nm peak torque. The hardware configuration also features a suspension setup with a telescopic fork on the front and a monoshock on the rear. On the other hand, braking is performed with the front disc brakes and rear drum brakes equipped with CBS as standard equipment.
