Yamaha FZ-X bookings open albeit unofficially
Remember we told you Yamaha is likely to launch the FZ-X in India on 18 June. Well, we have some news in that regard -- it turns out the upcoming bike in India has become available for pre-orders. Yep, Yamaha FZ-X bookings in India are now open albeit unofficially. Some Yamaha dealerships in India are accepting pre-orders for the upcoming Yamaha bike for a token amount of up to ₹10,000. Post the launch on 18 June, the company is expected to start the new FZ-X's deliveries only by August. Now, a little bit more about the upcoming Yamaha bike in India.
A retro-styled bike based on Yamaha FZ, it will be the company's entry-level bike in India. The FZ-X gets a round LED headlamp, a teardrop-shaped fuel tank, single-piece seat, tyre hugger, blacked-out mechanical bits, and alloy wheels. The bike will offer relaxed ergonomics thanks to raised handlebars and mid-set footpegs.
Though the company hasn't revealed anything about the upcoming Yamaha bike in India, we believe it will likely come equipped with a fully digital negative LCD instrument console borrowed from the FZ. Besides that, we expected the two-wheeler manufacturer to equip the Yamaha FZ-X with the optional Yamaha Motorcycle Connect X app that enables riders to pair their smartphone with the Bluetooth-enabled console. Once connected, riders will be able to access plenty of information via the Connect X app.
Yamaha FZ-X will come powered by a 149 cc engine that belts out a maximum power output of 12 bhp at 7,250 rpm and 14 Nm of peak torque at 5,500 rpm. This motor will be paired to a five-speed gearbox with a constant mesh clutch. As for the upcoming bike's suspension set up -- it will make use of the same hardware as the FZ, i.e. telescopic forks and mono-shock. For braking, it gets front and rear disc brakes with single-channel ABS.
