Yamaha Motor delivers boost for fishing boaters with exclusive Finval alliance 08.06.2021: Today, Yamaha Motor Europe has signed a new 5 year partnership with acclaimed fishing boat builder, Finval Boats, that will see the Ukranian brand’s export fleet rigged exclusively with Yamaha outboard engines until 2026.

Today, Yamaha Motor Europe has signed a new 5 year partnership with acclaimed fishing boat builder, Finval Boats, that will see the Ukranian brand’s export fleet rigged exclusively with Yamaha outboard engines until 2026.

Finval was founded in 2008 in Kiev. They build tough, lightweight aluminium fishing boats with premium fit-outs, outstanding rough-water ability and a 10 year hull warranty. Aimed at active outdoor people who love exploring and water sports, as well as fishing.

Fabrice Lacoume, Marine Director of Yamaha Motor Europe explains: “Finval builds fast, sporting fishing boats that deliver an extra level of luxury and comfort without compromising that ingrained respect for toughness and durability.

At Yamaha Motor we are committed to empowering the customer by applying new technological innovation in the direct pursuit of a better on-water experience. With Finval, their customers are our customers, and their ethos shares a very practical overlap with our own – and that’s something we’re very comfortable with at Yamaha.”

Yamaha Motor designs, develops and builds products that stir the emotions. Established in 1955, it has spent more than 60 years combining pioneering innovation with engineering excellence in the pursuit of "Kando" – that feeling of deep satisfaction and excitement you get when you encounter the exceptional.

Motivated by a singular drive to improve the customer experience, Yamaha outboard engines are lightweight and durable, with transom-friendly dimensions, boat-friendly styling and legendary levels of reliability.

Proudly distributed in around 180 countries across the globe, the current range offers a wide spectrum of four-stroke outboard options, from the game-changing XTO 425hp V8 of the Premium product line-up to the lightweight 2.5hp model of the Portable range.

And each and every one of them continues to deliver a more memorable and affecting on-water experience than any other outboard in its class.

Fishing-friendly thrills from 300hp to 60hp

Yamaha Motor Europe has signed a new five-year partnership with acclaimed fishing boat builder, Finval Boats, which will see the Ukranian brand’s export fleet rigged exclusively with Yamaha outboard engines until 2026.

In addition, to the 80hp, 70hp and 60hp outboards from the Mid Power segment, those outboards will include High Power models from 200hp to 90hp, as well as outboards up to and including the lightweight and ultra-smooth 300hp V6 of the Premium range. Having made its European debut in September 2020, Yamaha’s VMAX SHO line is also likely to prove particularly relevant for Finval customers.

Available at 175hp, 150hp, 115hp and 90hp, Yamaha’s VMAX SHO outboards are specifically engineered to excel on lightweight performance boats, precisely like the finely tuned marine grade, German aluminium platforms of the Finval range.

Built for elite tournament anglers who demand the ultimate in speed and reliability, they offer outstanding hole-shot and fierce throttle response right across the rev range – even when fully loaded with a large crew or a day’s worth of fishing gear.

Yamaha’s relentless drive for engine innovations that directly impact the user experience will also prove key to Finval customers in several other ways. The award-winning Helm Master EX (HMEX) system, for instance, will enable owners of Finval boats of 5.5m and above, to enjoy highly refined joystick control, as well as to hold position at a favoured fishing spot, courtesy of Yamaha’s fantastic new FishPoint feature.

The option of Digital Electric Steering (DES) will also help de-clutter aft decks and bring fishermen vital extra space to move. With powerful chargers for multiple accessories, as well as tiller options on engines of up to 115hp, the new partnership will deliver an equally special customer experience to boaters at the entry point to the Finval fleet.

Rough-water heritage for customer confidence

Founded by Igor Surdu in 2008 in the Ukrainian capital, Kiev, Finval builds tough, lightweight aluminium fishing boats with premium fit-outs, outstanding rough-water ability and a 10-year hull warranty. Aimed at active outdoor people who love exploring and water sports, as well as fishing, it’s clear that the brand’s local cruising grounds have had a fundamental impact on the way the boats are designed and built.

Igor said: “In Ukraine, especially in the Dnieper River Basin, there are large reservoirs that are rich in fish. It’s a favourite place for fishermen but it’s also quite common to see waves of two metres in height, so our main goal is to create boats that allow fishermen to feel safe and comfortable, whatever the weather.”

Finval’s current fleet comprises 10 boats from 4.5 to 6.5 metres in length, across four key product lines: the Rangy; Evo; Sport Angler; and FishPro lines. While they each target a subtly different activity, they are all designed to validate customer trust by putting seaworthiness, endurance and comfort first – and it’s this integrity of approach that makes the brand such a natural choice for Yamaha.

Fabrice Lacoume, Marine Director of Yamaha Motor Europe explains: “Finval builds fast, sporting fishing boats that deliver an extra level of luxury and comfort without compromising that ingrained respect for toughness and durability.

At Yamaha Motor, we are committed to empowering the customer by applying new technological innovation in the direct pursuit of a better on-water experience. With Finval, their customers are our customers, and their ethos shares a very practical overlap with our own – and that’s something we’re very comfortable with at Yamaha.”

Tailor-made transoms for empowered performance

The Finval fleet is set to benefit from a very broad cross-section of Yamaha’s outboard range. The 80hp, 70hp and 60hp outboards from the Mid Power line will be a fine match, both for the multi-purpose Evo 475 and for the highly manoeuvrable Rangy 510.

With their trolling-friendly tiller options, users of both of these boats will now be able to enjoy extra space, reduced weight, increased efficiency and superb incremental control when fishing at low revs.

Further up the fleet, Yamaha’s High Power outboards, from the VMAX SHO 90hp to the 200hp, will come directly into play for the 505 FishPro, as well as for Finval’s trio of 5.5-metre boats across the Evo, Sport Angler and FishPro lines. And Yamaha’s Premium line of V6 outboards will be the perfect partner for Finval’s range-topping 685 models in the Sport Angler and FishPro lines.

While these two flagship models are built to deliver the ultimate in confidence-inspiring performance and elevated on-board comfort, the smooth power delivery and HMEX sophistication of Yamaha’s Premium outboards are set to elevate the customer experience to an unprecedented new level.

The fleet of the future: KANDO as standard

As the collaboration between these two premium brands develops, the sharing of expertise will help bring Finval owners a combination of fun, performance and refinement unmatched in the European fishing boat market.

By taking advantage of Yamaha’s customer-focused approach at the design stages, Finval will be perfectly placed to expand and supplement its 10-boat fleet with new products that deliver a more gratifying fishing boat experience than ever before.

Whether through its sophisticated HMEX-equipped outboards, its intuitive tiller-steered engines or its radically rapid VMAX SHO outboards, Yamaha will be in the perfect position to show Finval’s expanding European fan base just how exciting class-leading innovation can feel when it’s underpinned by 60 years of experience and Revving Hearts…
