BEREA, Ohio –

Operating a vehicle under the influence: Valley Parkway

A North Olmsted woman, 38, was arrested at about 11 p.m. Feb. 5 after she crashed her Honda Accord into a tree on Valley Parkway at Barrett Road.

The woman told police that her car slid on black ice while southbound on Valley Parkway. She said she might have stepped out of the car after the crash and passed out in the snow, but she wasn’t sure.

The woman smelled like alcohol and she slurred her words. She admitted drinking alcoholic beverages earlier for dinner but insisted she was OK to drive.

Several warrants had been issued for the woman’s arrest. She failed field sobriety tests.

Suspicion: Depot Street

A driver called police at about 6:45 p.m. Feb. 4 after noticing a woman lying face down on the side of Depot at Runn Street.

The woman was calling for help. The driver pulled over to assist the woman, who said she had been “robbed, raped and beat up.” She seemed intoxicated and hysterical, and was on her cell phone talking to someone.

Police took the woman to Southwest General Health Center in Middleburg Heights.

Driving with suspended license, carrying concealed weapon, underage possession of liquor: North Rocky River Drive

A Cleveland man, 20, was arrested at about 11:30 p.m. Feb. 8 after police found a loaded handgun in his coat pocket and a half-empty bottle of a Remy Martin alcoholic beverage in his Hyundai Sonata.

Police stopped the man’s car on North Rocky River near Karl Street after seeing him speeding. The Sonata’s license plate had expired and the man’s driver’s license had been suspended. He was wanted in Cuyahoga Heights for a traffic violation.

Police found a baggie of marijuana in the car’s glove compartment and several empty baggies containing marijuana residue in the car.

Assist another agency: Interstate 71

Berea police K-9 Vader found what police believed was methamphetamine at about 2:30 a.m. Feb. 8 in a car stopped by the Ohio State Highway Patrol on 71 near Boston Road.

State troopers had stopped the car for a traffic violation. The driver and passengers told different stories about why they were out that night. Also, the driver was previously convicted on drug charges, so the troopers called Berea police and asked for Vader’s help.

Vader showed interest in the driver’s door handle of the car. Troopers found two glass pipes and a ball of a crystalized substance in the vehicle.

Trespassing: Coe Street

An apartment tenant on Coe called police at about 12:45 p.m. Feb. 4 and said a woman was in her building’s laundry room using drugs.
